Job Summary: Evaluate and price large commercial property risks. Determine acceptability and recommend underwriting action consistent with corporate/departmental goals and objectives. Evaluate overall accumulation as it relates to individual risks in severe CAT prone areas. Develop new business and retain renewal business. Essential Job Functions: 1. Understands, complies and maintains current knowledge of underwriting guidelines, procedures, goals and objectives. 2. Performs exposure analysis, determines and recommends underwriting actions, determines the appropriate pricing levels and identify appropriate underwriting alternatives. 3. Takes appropriate underwriting action within the scope of delegated authority. Transactions that exceed authority are referred using established format and procedures with applicable underwriting recommendations. 4. Responsible for account ownership by controlling new account submissions, renewals and all related transactions in terms of underwriting, loss control, audit, loss experience, file documentation and maintenance, and overall processing status. 5. Prepares all transactions including referrals, quotations, renewals, reinsurance placements, filings, account advisories etc. both accurately and timely in accordance with established guidelines, schedules and procedures. 6. Completes all file documentation, and rating schedules in compliance with all internal underwriting and state regulatory requirements 7. Coordinates account activities between various other departments, underwriters, account executive officers and producers within the scope of account ownership and authority. 8. Establish and build relationships with producers to leverage superior underwriting submissions and accounts. Utilize effective sales and negotiation skills to generate new business and retain accounts on the most profitable terms available to TMM. 9. Provides clear, concise requests and instructions on all account transaction matters to other departments and unit members as applicable. 10. Reviews previously performed work for transaction accuracy and quality. 11. Assists with the training and development of staff members. 12. Develops market intelligence on an ongoing basis. 13. Regular and reliable attendance. 14. Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company. 15. Cooperate with co-workers to foster a teaming atmosphere. Work with established work-flows to meet on time service goals. Other Functions: 1. Performs other duties as required to best serve the customer, team and management needs. 2. Regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree - Five Years or more Large Commercial Property or HPR Underwriting Experience. - Strong written and oral communications skills - Proficiency with Personal Computer and Related Software Applications. - Participation in Insurance Related Course Work including AAI and CPCU.
