Middle Market Underwriting Technical Services is currently hiring for an Assistant Director, Property position.  Candidates for this role should have relevant Underwriting experience in the commercial property line of business.  This role will primarily be responsible for reviewing property referrals from all of our Middle Market Underwriting offices and developing expertise to referral activity.  In addition, this role will have responsibility to maintain existing tools and participate in developing new tools to ensure consistent, rigorous underwriting analysis and decision-making.  This position will interact and collaborate with other Middle Market Underwriting Technical Services staff and numerous Home Office and Field Operations stakeholder groups is essential to effective performance. 
 

Responsibilities: 
  • Conducts analyses for assigned classes or lines of business and responds to inquires for assigned areas of responsibilities.

  • Analyzes results against metrics to assess underwriting performance

  • Assists in the research, design, develop and evaluation of policy, guidelines and tools to ensure consistent, rigorous underwriting analysis and decision-making.

  • Assist with audits and developing training materials as requested.

  • Identify, research and propose opportunities for system improvements and efficiencies.

  • Translates business needs into comprehensive project plans that ensure successful project completion.

  • Prepares periodic written and oral reports to Manager, Senior Managers and stakeholders on project status.


SKILLS REQUIRED
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor';s degree (or equivalent) and 5 + years of progressively more responsible experience required

  • Commercial lines property underwriting experience required

  • Extensive knowledge of property & casualty insurance, policy forms, coverage grants, contract language, rating plans, ratemaking, underwriting concepts, audits, laws and regulations are required

  • Good project management, communication and interpersonal skills; Professional insurance designation preferred
